This evening, Feynner and I drove around to Lucia after a day’s work to see what was going on. Here’s what we saw.
The fire was just a few hundred feet above the highway and air support was fierce. There were three helicopters and a plane working on hot spots along the road. They were also running up over Alms ridge, probably to help support the crews trying to stop the fire at the break there and Prewitt ridge. The helicopters were flying right over us.
and pulling away. These pilots are amazing.
My understanding is that the fire is still moving slowly on all other fronts, moving east, northeast and down into Hare Canyon on the northwest. The focus has been on stopping the fire from going any more south, over Prewitt and Alms.
