The past two weeks, while the biologists from NOAA Fisheries have been doing their steelhead surveys, they found pink salmon. A total of three pink salmon observed, two females and one male. The male and one female were observed the first week (27-28 September), all three were observed the second week (3-4 October).
This is really unusual. Apparently they are not really known to be found up creeks south of Washington State. Tissue samples being sent to folks that do West Coast pink salmon work to see if they can assign these fish to any specific region or basin.
