Feynner, Jen and I went hiking up the interpretive loop today, finding fresh scrape marks and a number of relatively fresh scat piles. Jen found a very large lion scat as we were going up Brunette Creek. We noticed bones and decided to poke around. We ended up finding 4 claws. We’re not sure if they are bobcat or lion claws, being that they are of smallish size and thickness. I am hoping to find someone who can do some DNA testing on all our collected claws to determine what this individual has been eating.
See our other mountain lion blog posts about last year’s scat contents. This is the 4th time we’ve found claws in lion scat since this time last year.
